Pinus sylvestris, Scots pine, Scotch pine, European red pine, or Baltic pine is a species of tree in the pine family Pinaceae that is native to Eurasia. This tree is a long-living, coniferous tree is characterized by its orange trunk. The bark is thick, scaly dark gray-brown on the lower trunk, and thin, flaky and orange on the upper trunk and branches. It is readily identified by its combination of fairly short, blue-green leaves and orange-red bark.
