Home is wherever I'm with you
Home is where the heart is full! Home is everything that overflows feelings!
Security, belonging, freedom to be who you really are, and be loved for it. Being with the ones you love somewhere that seems to fit you.
Like a couple who chose to live the freedom of the road, and make home every corner they park, and put out not only their friend Thomas (that little furry guy sleeping on top of their bags), but also their tastes, their life stories and the stories of everything and everyone who has crossed their path, and at some point felt at home with them.
Parked somewhere where the fog announces the end of the day and the beginning of the night, watching a good movie (winner of some Oscar awards, which only they hadn't watched yet), they enjoy life just like you and me in our houses, with the small difference that the view from their "window" is a little bit better, most of the time - not always, I might say..
Accumulating good and bad stories to tell, they follow their life in their home, sometimes mobile, sometimes parked... And little by little they also accumulate a genuine feeling of homesickness for their other home and family in their hometown, and almost they can already smell a nice pumpkin pie getting ready in the oven. They also feel at home there. Do I need to repeat that home is where the heart is full?

Technically this is the final result of the scene in 3dsmax. I tried to keep the scene fast, with very easy landscaping to modify and with well organized layers and well configured Forests. The idea is that in the future I can create other cameras and maybe other adventures for this couple, making the most of what has already been created for this scene.

With a central idea in mind, I started creating the foreground and composing the main elements of the scene, like the mountain closest to the camera and a vehicle that is an important point of the story I wanted to tell.
Then, I started to study the lighting, again based on the references, I decided that the best mood and that would bring more life to the scene, would be a late afternoon with a very low sun and the blue light already washing the scene.
After that, I added the mountain created in Gaea, with a river in the center of the scene. In the sequence, I added elements of nature, like a volumetric ambience and atmosphere, and composed all the landscape of the scene.
Then I gave life to the story I'm telling, adding the elements that make it up, like the suitcases on top of the van, the light cables, the projector and the screen.

I started the project looking for references, not only photography but also concept art and 3D scenes.
There were several artists who inspired me on this path, but mainly Theo Gosselin on photography, representing this "wanderlust" lifestyle.
Using concepts and 3D scenes as references, I was searching for inspiration mainly for colors, mood, and some aspects of technical representation and storytelling.
Another great inspiration during the process was music! Those folk and country songs, that makes us feel "on the road"! (I might quote "Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros", which is what gave me the idea for the title of the image)
