Memories of Home

With the conclusion of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the opportunity to reconnect with friends and rebuild the connections that were momentarily put on hold. Throughout the past years, our friendship has flourished, growing stronger and forging a bond that feels unbreakable. We have shared countless memories, supported each other through ups and downs, and formed a unique connection that is truly special.

However, as we embark on our journey into adulthood, entering the workforce and moving away from our parents' homes, some of us venturing to different cities or even countries, I find myself grappling with a sense of loss. The thought of not having them physically by my side, not being able to spontaneously hang out, feels disheartening. Yet, despite the physical distance that separates us, the foundations we have built remain steadfast. True connections surpass geographical boundaries, and I am immensely grateful for the time we have spent together and the memories we have crafted. These experiences have shaped me in immeasurable ways and have become an irreplaceable part of my life.

In this time where friends and family often relocate to different corners of the globe, the concept of home takes on a dynamic and ever-evolving nature. While home still reflects our true selves and the things we hold dear, it intertwines with our personal histories and cultural influences. As our loved ones scatter across the world, the notion of home expands to encompass the memories we've created together, becoming an integral part of our sense of feeling at home.

To me, home is a collage of places, people, and shared experiences. Every time we reminisce about our adventures, and shared laughter, we carry those precious moments within us, nurturing a feeling of comfort and belonging.

I added some textures and then I continued refining the lighting. I wanted the character to be surrounded by light, so I added some fog and a new light coming out of the refrigerator, the idea was for this light to highlight the basic shape of a house.

After additional tests and making adjustments to the subject's positioning, I believe I am getting closer to the final composition of the frame. The next step will involve searching for assets that I can utilize and beginning to make progress on the modeling.

Finally, I've started working on the 3D. I'm creating blocks of the main elements to test, framing and lighting.

I initiated the process of collecting references of various locations from individuals who have recently moved, next inspired by a photograph my friend sent me upon her arrival at her new home, I embarked on a quest for Polaroid pictures and images adorning the fridge. These pictures represent a way to reconnect with our cherished memories in this new place. And finally, some images to serve as references for the lighting of the scene.
